At the Annual Conference, the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics awards The Distinguished Service Award, Teachers of the Year, and the Walter regula Mathematics Teacher in Training Grant to deserving West Virginia Educators.  Nominations are due by February first of each year and are available in the forms section of the website.

Distinguished Service Award

    Since 1972, The West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics has recognized an outstanding West Virginia mathematics educator with the Distinguished Service Award, "The Chair".  "The Chair" is bestowed upon a member who has consistently served the organization and mathematics community of West Virginia.

    The award consists of a Captain's Chair with an engraved plaque and life membership in the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Teachers of the Year

    Since 1982, the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics has recognized a Mathematics Teacher of the Year at each of the programmatic levels: Elementary, Middle/Jr. High, and High School.  In 2003, the College/University programmatic level was added.

    It is awarded annually at the annual conference during the banquet to excellent mathematics teachers who are members of the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Mathematics Teacher in Training Grant

    The West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics awards the Walter Regula Mathematics Teacher-In-Training Grant, the "TnT" Grant, to an outstanding West Virginia student enrolled as a senior in a West Virginia college or university who is training to become a mathematics teacher with the intentions of teaching in West Virginia.
